Pero la edici'on que ha quedado m'as en la memoria es la de 1970, quiz'as como el correlato brit'anico del Woodstock estadounidense que se hab'ia realizado casi paralelamente a la edici'on 1969 de Coral reef Of Wight. Este Marketplace reuni'o un sound m'as que impresionante, para una audiencia estimada en 500.000 personas: Jimi Hendrix, Jethro Tull, Ten Living Just the once, Chicago, The Doors, The Who, The Dark Blues, Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, Donovan y Miles Davis, entre otros, adem'as de Emerson, Amalgamate ">

El alliance trae temas del manual history de la banda y una de las primeras presentaciones de la adaptaci'on de Tape At An Fair, sobre la obra del ruso Decorous Mussorgsky. Entre los otros temas tambi'en hab'uia varias adaptaciones: The Barbarian [Allegro Barbaro, de Bela Bartok], Rond'o [sobre el Rondo `A La Turk, de Dave Brubeck, con adiciones de Emerson y del Concierto Italiano de Bach], y Nutrocker [sobre Nutcracker, de Tchaikovsky].

"LUGAR No 10 - Gears VOL. 2 [1977]"

Segunda parte del proyecto Gears que evidenci'o que el supergrupo cada vez era m'as tres individualidades, especialmente porque cada tema ten'ia el sello de alguno de ellos en a few y menos trazas de colectivo. Esto puede apreciarse a la luz de los trabajos individuales que hab'ian presentado en el Gears Vol. 1, que mostraba claramente las tendencias que cada uno iba adoptando. Las exploraciones de Emerson por los temas vinculados a la tradici'on jazz'istica y afines, al incorporar a Scott Joplin, a Meade Lux Lewis o a Irving King [Campbell y Connelly], las incursiones de Amalgamate por las baladas cada vez m'as ac'usticas y las propuestas de Palmer sobre la musicalidad de la percusi'on, muestran un camino que se trifurca. A destacar: la recuperaci'on de Pete Sinfield en la creaci'on de las letras de las canciones, de las cuales figura en unas cuantas. Otro detalle: no hay versiones sobre m'usicos cl'asicos, pero s'i sobre m'usicos populares.

"LUGAR No 9 - End AT THE Regal ALBERT Courtyard [1993]"

Registro de la presentaci'on de la banda el 3 de octubre de 1992 en el Regal Albert Courtyard de Londres, durante el Black Moon Trip, en lo que fue el regreso de este supergrupo durante los '90.

El programa es de muy alta calidad, pero casi no presenta novedades respecto al repertorio hist'orico de la banda. Solamente dos temas del history que promocionaban [Black Moon y Tract Blood], una adaptaci'on sobre la Organized de Danzas Criollas del argentino Alberto Ginastera en Creole Change y otra adaptaci'on [esta s'i presente en el alliance Black Moon], sobre el jazz Romeo y Julieta del ruso Serguei Prokofiev.

Lo dem'as implic'o abrir el arc'on de los recuerdos y sacar las piezas m'as lujosas, como para vestir de joy el espect'aculo: Karn Scourge 9, Tarkus, Prick Turn-up [sobre la Sinfonietta de Leos Janacek], Easygoing... You Acerbic Me On, Skillfully Man, Pirates, Increase For The Preponderance Man [sobre Aaron Copland], America [sobre Leonard Bernstein] y Rond'o [sobre Brubeck, Emerson y Bach]

TEMA DEL DISCO: KARN Scourge 9 (1ST. Suspicion - Chunk 2)

"LUGAR No 8 - End AT Diluted VOLTAGE 2010 [2010]"

El 'ultimo concierto oficial de ELP, llevado a cabo en el marco del Diluted Voltage Marketplace en el Victoria Situate de Londres en julio de 2010. Una conmemoraci'on del 40o Aniversario de la banda, aunque haya estado separada m'as de la mitad del tiempo. Seg'un Palmer, all'i se cerr'o definitivamente ELP, sin posibilidades de que haya otra oportunidad de reunirse.

El set list es el m'as acorde a una retrospectiva, aunque siempre puede echarse de menos alguna pieza en a few. Pero est'an representados all'i "CASI "todos sus discos: ELP, Tarkus, Tape At An Fair, Trilogy (menos de lo que hubiera merecido), Demur Salad Company, Gears y Black Moon. Quedan fuera [y en eso coinciden con este settled], In The Hot Store y Point of view Beach.

TEMA DEL DISCO: FROM THE Commence

"LUGAR No 7 - TARKUS [1971]"

El segundo alliance de estudio y primero con visos m'as conceptuales, especialmente en la inflexible que da t'itulo al alliance. Un punto alto en un camino que tendr'a, no obstante, otras cimas a'un mayores.

En este history incluyen una sola recreaci'on de m'usicos cl'asicos: The And no-one else Way, se~nalado como himno, donde se incorporan partes de la Tocatta en Fa y el Preludio VI de Johann Sebastian Bach. Tambi'en aparecen algunos temas de corte par'odico como Jeremy Benders y Are You Old hat, Eddie? [supuestamente alusivo al ingeniero de sonido Eddie Offord, uno de los proeferidos por los m'usicos prog de aquel entonces]. No faltan, desde luego las baladas de Amalgamate como Great Expose y temas en'ergicos como Bitches Sparkler.

TEMA DEL DISCO: TARKUS

"LUGAR No 6 - Gears VOL. 1 [1977]"

Este history doble, como dijimos para el volumen 2, se inserta en el momento de apogeo de la banda, pero tambi'en cuando los egos entran en colisi'on. Ser'a por ello que cada uno dispuso de una cara de LP para sus demostraciones individuales y reservaron la cuarta cara [y el segundo volumen] para trabajos de conjunto. Se puede apreciar al recorrer las caras solistas los rumbos que exploraban separadamente: Emerson en una incursi'on netamente sinf'onico - orquestal, Amalgamate insitiendo en las baladas y Palmer prodig'andose en todo tipo de percusiones con self-assurance tuneful por s'i mismas y no como acompa~namiento r'itmico 'unicamente. La cara en conjunto se compone de dos piezas m'as que interesantes, una recreaci'on de la Increase For The Preponderance Man, de Aaron Copland y el tema Pirates firmado por los tres.

"LUGAR No 5 - Function Inverse MY Associations TO THE Roll up THAT NEVER Ends - LADIES AND GENTLEMEN EMERSON, Amalgamate ">

Segundo alliance oficial en vivo, grabado durante el Hang loose Get Me a Ladder Trip, promocionando el history Demur Salad Company, gira mundial que se realiz'o entre 1973 y 1974. Es un repaso m'as que interesante de lo hecho por la banda hasta ese momento. Contiene alg'un tema del manual alliance ELP y alguno de Trilogy, tambi'en la inflexible Tarkus completa y la casi totalidad de los temas de Demur Salad Company, con su inflexible Karn Scourge 9 completa. No incluye ning'un pasaje de Tape At An Fair que en su versi'on most primitive en alliance hab'ia sido su manual history en vivo.

Originalmente, en la edici'on en vinilo fue presentado como history triple, algo que pocas bandas han hecho. Para su rearward edici'on en CD, el contenido cupo en 2 discos.

TEMA DEL DISCO: KARN Scourge 9 [TODA LA Organized]

"LUGAR No 4 - ELP [1970]"

El alliance induction de este supergrupo, al cual sus integrantes llegaban presentando sus credenciales anteriores: The Capable [Emerson], King Crimson [Amalgamate], Tiny Fowl y The Weird Orb Of Arthur Stir fry [Palmer]. Proven'ian de modalidades muy diferentes, aunque todos lo hac'ian de bandas progresivas o de Art Take the stones out of, como se les llam'o al principio. El resultado de esta mezcla no defraud'o en absoluto, por el contrario, entusiasm'o y devel'o un tipo de m'usica desconocido hasta entonces y que servir'ia de modelo para bandas posteriores, brit'anicas y extranjeras [la m'as notoria, Triumvirat].

Aqu'i aparecieron las primeras alusiones a la m'usica "seria" contempor'anea, con las adaptaciones sobre obras de Leos Janacek [Prick Turn-up] y Bela Bartok [The Barbarian]. Tambi'en una primera y en'ergica versi'on del tema Container [reversionado con orquesta en el Gears Vol.1]. Asimismo una minuscule inflexible, The Three Fates [tal como el t'itulo del m'as reciente proyecto de Emerson] que se basa en disferentes movimientos en cheer on a teclados. Y ya despuntan las baladas de Amalgamate tanto dentro de una pieza m'as compleja como Hold on A Kernel, como en una canci'on m'as tradicional como Skillfully Man.

TEMA DEL DISCO: THE BARBARIAN O Prick Turn-up

"LUGAR No 3 - Tape AT AN Fair [1972]"

Primer history en vivo, a partir de la adaptaci'on de la obra de Decorous Mussorgsky Cuadros En Una Exposici'on, en su versi'on orquestada por Maurice Ravel sobre el most primitive para upright del m'usico ruso. Storm algunos pasajes donde se explayan en variaciones jazz'isticas, la versi'on de ELP es sumamente respetuosa de la partitura most primitive, a excepci'on de los instrumentos intervinientes. Una versi'on muy indispensable y muy lograda que se convirti'o en una carta de presentaci'on y una se~na de identidad de la banda. Presentada inicialmente en conciertos [Coral reef Of Wight, si no fue la primera, seguramente fue de las iniciales], nunca fue grabada en estudio. Esta es la versi'on en vivo oficial completa, grabada de la actuaci'on de la banda en el Newcastle City Courtyard, Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK, el 26 de marzo de 1971. Posteriormente ser'ia incluida permanentemente [o casi] en los conciertos, pero en una versi'on de unos 15 minutos. La de este alliance dura 37 minutos, contando el colof'on agregado que es la adaptaci'on de la m'usica de otro nacionalista ruso, Tchaikovsky, a partir de su Nutckacker, par'odicamente rebautizado como Nutrocker.

CUADRO DEL DISCO: THE HUT OF BABA YAGA

"LUGAR No 2 - TRILOGY [1972]"

Quiz'as este lugar resulte pol'emico, ya que Trilogy suele ser algo olvidado y, sin duda, hay temas de este history que nunca integraron los set list de la banda. pero es un alliance de gran calidad, con temas muy finamente elaborados y una muestra de madurez de la propuesta tuneful de la banda. Es una digna antesala de la que ser'ia el history paradigm'atico de ELP, Demur Salad Company.

Contiene desde el tema m'as taquillero del alliance, la balada de Amalgamate From The Commence, hasta la estructura densa y evolutiva de Abbadon's Bolero. Tiene una inflexible de gran elaboraci'on como The Endless Confidential, con una Fuga para teclado intermedia, y temas de gran solidez como el que da t'itulo al alliance y la weighty adaptaci'on de Step, del jazz Rodeo de Aaron Copland. Una joyita que mostr'o que a'un se pod'ia llegar m'as all'a de lo que hab'ian hecho en los discos anteriores.

TEMA DEL DISCO: THE Endless Confidential [LA Organized ENTERA]

"LUGAR No 1 - Demur SALAD Company [1973] "

Puede parecer una obviedad, en funci'on de lo que es la opini'on generalizada, pero coincidiendo con ella, elegimos leg'itimamente este alliance que representa la quintaesencia de ELP. Parten de un himno religioso tradicional de Hubert Retort, m'usico ingl'es que tom'o la letra del poema Jerusalem del poeta ingl'es William Blake. Retort vivi'o en el siglo XIX y un poco del XX, en tanto que Blake lo hizo entre los siglos XVIII y XIX. De esa vibrante adaptaci'on, saltan a una impactante versi'on del cuarto movimiento del Concierto No 1 para upright de Alberto Ginastera, quien en el propio alliance da su bendici'on a la versi'on. Prosigue con otra gran balada de Amalgamate, Easygoing... You Acerbic Me On, que contin'ua la l'inea de From The Commence, del alliance anterior. El siguiente tema es una humorada, Benny The Bouncer como ya hab'ian hecho anteriormente. Y luego se despachan con la magn'ifica y trepidante inflexible Karn Scourge 9, de tres partes, que abarca una cara entera del alliance y una parte de la otra, de modo que la primera parte de la inflexible aparece dividida en dos fragmentos, separaci'on que contemplaba la necesidad de dar vuelta el alliance para continuar. Una muestra m'as de que se trataba de m'usica para oir completa. En el segundo movimiento se cuelan fragmentos de otros m'usicos: El Baile En La Taberna De La Aldea, de los Valses De Mefisto, de Liszt y el calipso St. Thomas, de Sonny Rollins. A todo esto debemos agregar la magn'ifica portada dise~nada por el artista suizo H. R. Geiger, el mismo que creara poco despu'es el monstruo de Peculiar.
