Can you recall how excited you were when you found a treasure? It is the same way when we awaken to a new spirituality The world looks different; many more things make sense.
As we realize the power the divine has invested in each of us, we begin to bloom. As we come to trust the inner nature, we find a new confidence. We dare to love knowing we have unique opportunities to grow and to transform. "Our light comes on!"
Eagerly, we want to be a spiritual ambassador to celebrate our joy. We want to share, but have to learn to do so without frightening, debating or damaging the spirit of the other. A major difference between spirituality and religion is that spirituality clearly respects the spirit within each without proselytizing, just sharing, please.
While honoring our inner promptings, we clearly must understand others are entitled to his or her own approach, as well. Our new ideas often challenge the beliefs of others, so we respond with respect for the ideas of others just as we want them to respect ours.
Certain sentences may become our tools. "Have you ever thought of this?" or "I have come to see it this way."
"I" statements become increasingly significant as we say, "here is how it works for me" or "I think thus and so" without being offended should others hold a differing perspective.
Occasionally we may gift a particular book or CD that seems meaningful to someone saying, "I enjoyed this. It has some interesting things in it, I thoug of you." Very soon you will learn with whom you can share, or who is not interested or who may even take offense. The good rule we can apply is "to do no harm." If someone's faith is working for them, leave them alone. When their time comes, they will awaken, also.
Spiritual growth is not a race. It is a practice of becoming a more caring person, more empathetic knowing we will each be provided opportunities to serve as an ambassador of Light and Love. How well we face our challenge is rather like saying how fast can I get out of the old box and into a larger room? Each of us will come to delight in every breakthrough.
Love,
Carol
